About BSP Studios LLC and Kati Radziwon

Hi there! Welcome to the blog! A bit about me. I am the youngest of 4 children and grew up in California. I am married to the love of my life and have 2 amazing boys. I love sushi and a cold diet Pepsi. The mountain air makes me happy. Blue is my favorite color. I cannot go more than a day without talking to my sister on the phone. I know that laughter heals. I do not own a pair of skinny jeans. I am easygoing, flexible, and love to be silly. I truly believe I have the best job on earth!

Professional Spotlight – Little Munchkin Pie

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Sorry for the hiatus from the Professional Spotlight Series. I have been swamped and between being on vacation and trying to get on top of my workload, while still making time for my family, something had to give. It feels good to be back in the swing of things and I am happy to bring the series back today with a wonderful business that is owned by a fantastic mom! I met Kristin back in 2009 when I started my business and she was one of my first clients. We have since stayed in touch, even with her moving across the country. I have followed her business and even connected her with my good friend Jessica of Jessica Neumann Photography. I can honestly say you will get top notch products and service from Kristin! Please take some time to check out her site and get to know her a bit…you won’t be disappointed!

Welcome Kristin Lunderville of Little Munchkin Pie!

Oh…and the baby featured in this post is baby Harper…one of my 5 newborns from last week. My only girl that week and sweeter than ever! See below for pictures

How do you know Kati of BSP Studios?

I met Kati in 2009 through a mutual friend who had told me about her fabulous photographer friend who was starting her own business.  It was our first photoshoot as a family and it was wonderful!

How long have you been in business?

I opened my etsy shop in May 2010

What is special about your business or how do you stand out?

I take a lot of pride in my work.  Everything is completely handmade and I always try to add a touch of whimsy or take on a new spin instead of blending in.

What type of business do you run?

I make handmade hair clips, headbands and tutus for girls and grown-ups too!

What is your favorite thing about your job?

I love nothing more to see a customer wearing a LMP accessory!  It makes me so happy.

How did you come about doing what you are doing? How did you decide to make the first step and create a business out of your passion?

When my daughter was 10 months old I was looking for a hair clip for her to wear to a wedding.  I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for and ended up with a pretty, but quite flimsy and expensive clip that was lost within a week.  It was then that I thought, hey, I can do this!  A few months later I purchased my first supplies.  I was introduced to etsy, opened a shop and never looked back.

What was the BEST decision that you have made for your business?

To really focus in on the types of creations I love to make and the materials I love versus trying to go into too many directions.

What is your best form of marketing to your customers?

Facebook has been great, but the best marketing I have has been though word of mouth and from people seeing my items in a customer’s hair.

Are you married? Do you have any children?

My husband and I have been married for 7 years and we have tw children. My daughter Riley is almost 4 and is the inspiration behind LMP.  My son Liam is 2, and I am pretty sure he is jealous of all of the cute accessories his big sister gets to wear!

How do you find balance in life/family/work? When you get stressed out, what is your favorite outlet?

I have set times that I take care of my work, normally at night when the children are sleeping or I will cut out a block of time for orders during the day.  My husband is incredibly supportive and fortunately we balance everything pretty well!

What are three things that you couldn’t live without as a business woman?

My driod, hot glue gun and a giant cup of coffee :)

What is one thing that totally surprised you about starting a business?

That the thought of it is a lot scarier then taking the leap

What is one mistake you have made or lesson you have learned from running your own business?

To focus and to know my limits

And finally, what 3 pieces of advice would you give someone starting out in business, or someone just trying to balance their business/ family lives better?

To have a sense of humor, set boundaries, especially if you have children so that they don’t get lost in the shuffle and let the creative juices flow!

Whew…it has been a busy week! I am grateful for the abundance of work, but I am wiped out! Each and every family was fantastic and we got some incredible images. I really do cherish and appreciate each of the relationships I build with my clients. This week I was especially surprised to have 2 beautiful little girls make me special cards and another family gift me 6 HUGE zucchini. So thoughtful and unexpected. Thank you for making me feel welcome and being so kind.

Also, thank you to to all my very patient fans and clients for being so understanding about my lack of post and FB updates. I am hoping to get back on board with the Professional Spotlights, blog posts, and teaser photos. There will also be some website updates and other fun things coming soon! It is good to be back in town and getting caught up.

Have a great week! – Kati

Some Lair teasers…

Sunday, August 7th, 2011

For those of you totally confused about what the Lair is and why it is so important to my family, I promise there is a spotlight post coming soon that will help you understand. The brief explanation is that my family has camped there for over 60 years and it is our reunion every year. It is the most magical, wonderful, fantastic place on earth and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! I also have tons of great photos to share in some upcoming posts :) . I also have some wonderful projects underway and am excited to share them with you as they unfold.

This year I had the privilege of taking pictures of some beautiful families while at camp and have a few to share with you. There are so many more to come!

While I wanted to just share a couple of teasers with you all, I also wanted to thank those of you waiting anxiously for photos. The Lair has less than ideal internet service since it is up in the mountains and I had an awful time trying to get enough consistent connection to upload photos. I have to admit I took advantage of the lack of good internet to catch up with my family and just enjoy the spirit of the Lair with my little ones. It was a wonderful, much needed, break for me and I will cherish the memories of this last week forever! I promise your photos are coming soon now that I am back in the Bay! Thank you again for not banging down my doors! For now, back to reality…teasers, blog posts, professional spotlights, and so much more! I have the best clients in the world!

“Hoot” Campfire!

Tent 62…my tent growing up and now my sisters family stays there.

You will see much more of these beautiful sisters! Look at those gorgeous legs…they got their Dad’s height and both their parents amazing looks!

My adorable niece Laurel. She is named after me…my middle name is Laurel. Cutest 7 year old I know!

My sisters family down at the creek. This is 4 of the 12 cousins that go with our family every year. Best week ever!
